Public Safety

Whereas many factors positively influence public safety from the physical environment to access to quality healthcare, to education and employment, municipalities all too often treat public safety as the function of law enforcement alone. In North Olmsted, we are taking a more comprehensive approach to public safety. We have moved our Building team into Public Safety, pulling a thread across our Police and Fire services.

We are growing our partnership with University Hospitals; developing a wellness program for our first responders; working to make our jail more compliant with State regulations; holding several “Coffee with a Cop” events every year; and emphasizing the need for better traffic safety through investments in equipment and signal systems.

Residents and visitors appreciate feeling safe in our city. We are committed to maintaining a high level of responsive, courteous and professional health and safety services, including Police and Fire. Every year, we invest in training and equipment for our staff in Police, Fire, and Building.

If you have safety concerns, complaints or questions, please contact the North Olmsted Police Department non-emergency line at (440) 777-3535.

If you are experiencing an emergency, please call 911 or call/text 988 if you or a loved one are experiencing a mental health crisis.
